The Foscam FI8910W is very similar to the previous Foscam I’ve reviewed over 2 years ago but the main difference is that this is a day/night camera that provides an IR filter for accurate colors during the day and with a distinct click, moves it out of the way at night to take advantage of the built-in IR illuminators. Without this feature, colors may be way off during the day, for example, tree or grass maybe pink and black cloth may appear light blue. Another area where they improved is that now you can manually turn off the IR illuminators so you can use the camera inside your home facing out a window without worrying about the illuminators reflecting back obscuring the image. 2 years later and the price remains about the same and sold at many places for under $100. The FI8908W has been a very popular camera allowing people to get into IP cameras without a huge investment. They are releasing the new version of this camera in the next few weeks and wanted to share what the improvements are with all of you. Foscam is a camera company in Shenzhen, China that makes low cost surveillence cameras for mainly home use. For it’s low price of around $80, the FI8908W has a lot of features that are interest to many. First of all, it has WiFi with WEP or WPA security, making it very easy and secure to deploy in your home. It has IR illuminators built in that works in complete darkness. It also has the ability to pan and tilt the camera remotely. The ability to view the live VGA resolution images from any browser makes it easy to use from anywhere internet access is available.
