This is by far the smallest IR Mini Dome I’ve ever reviewed. The actual dome measures about 1 3/4″ and the entire camera sits in the palm of my hand without touching any fingers, that’s small. Small usually means sacrificing features and quality, but in this case, this may be one of the better Hikvision cameras I reviewed. Where the previously reviewed Hikvision IR mini dome is a very basic camera with limitations, the Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-IS has all the bells and whistles. It’s a full 3-Axis dome, has a microSD card slot with in-camera playback, two-way audio, alarm inputs but also has a nice wide range varifocal lens from a very wide 2.8mm to a good telephoto 12mm. Although it costs a little more than it’s little brother, it’s a far better camera in many respects.
I reviewed the popular bullet version of this camera a few months ago and now I’m covering the IR mini dome version. Again with IR illuminators, WDR, Smart IR and digital noise reduction. They are small for an IR dome and work well in specific situations.
The ACTi D82 is their basic outdoor vandal dome with a varifocal (manual zoom) lens from f2.8~12mm. The camera records at HD 1080P at 30 fps or at 3 megapixels at 15 fps. There’s an microSD card slot for in camera recording.
This is one of ACTi’s newest vandal dome cameras and its differentiator is “Superior Low Light Sensitivity”. This would be the equivalent of the E44 bullet I recently reviewed but inside a vandal resistant dome housing and has an added bonus, a microSDHC card slot. The housing is identical to all the new ACTi outdoor vandal domes and is solid and well made.
This is a cool inexpensive tiny indoor dome from Q-See with decent low light performance but without IR illuminators or an IR cut filter for true day/nigh operation. This may work for you if you have some lighting. It has 720P resolution but can be run at 1.3MP as I’ve done in images below.
This is Q-See’s 1080P mini dome that can be used outdoors or indoors. What’s different about this over their 720P indoor dome beside being outdoor rated and higher resolution is that it has an SD card slot for a microSD card. It’s a good value if you need a small dome and have adequate lighting as it’s a day only camera that is not sensitive to IR lighting.
